The ins and outs of pharmaceutical wastewater treatment by microbial electrochemical technologies

چکیده

Pharmaceutical residues in wastewater are a rising environmental concern due to the fact that they could often penetrate conventional water treatment processes, and enter natural water. Among novel techniques, microbial electrochemical technologies (METs) emerge as an environment-friendly efficient means for of pharmaceutical contaminants wastewaters. In recent years, extensive research has been conducted towards understanding optimization various METs treatment. However, timely review update progress studies with specific focus removal is still lacking. Thus, this work provides advances by using METs. Specifically, performance different systems along reactor configurations, reaction mechanisms, target pharmaceuticals were discussed. To end, current challenges future perspectives also demonstrated.
